In 2010, following a period of consolidation, Gondola Group was seeking to rationalise our range of Italian wines and improving value to our customers. We conducted a series of tastings from a wide range of new and existing suppliers. We then rejected those that did not meet our criteria on quality and value. We then enlisted Trade Interchange to run an eAuction on our behalf, including only the suppliers whose products had been approved in the tastings.
The eAuction proved very competitive with many suppliers willing to offer products at lower than current prices. We finally conducted further tastings to find the right balance between quality and price. The result has been a great success for Gondola. With the help of Trade Interchange’s eAuction service, we have been able to not only reduce our average purchasing prices but also improve the quality across our range of Italian wines. This has resulted in better value and an enhanced wine drinking experience for our customers.
