eAuctions in Partnership with CHEP

Trade Interchange has been successfully providing eAuction Services for CHEP for over 3 years. During that period we have eAuctioned a variety of materials, components and services that CHEP regularly purchases.

As the relationship grew stronger, we started to explore other, more specialist, areas of spend. In Mid 2008, Trade Interchange conducted CHEP's first Logistics eAuction. There followed a series of eAuctions to test whether the concept was acceptable to both the supplier base and to CHEP’s internal markets.

We are pleased to say that these pilot eAuctions have proved very successful and CHEP has spent the rest of 2008 rolling out the concept of Logistics eAuctions across Europe.

Transporters have benefitted from a standard method of quotation across all of CHEP’s offices, as well as from the transparency of receiving feedback on the competitiveness of their quotes for certain routes. CHEP has benefitted from an extremely efficient method of gathering and comparing quotes from a large supplier base, as well as the confidence of knowing the true market value of its logistics purchases.
