Trade Interchange Signs Guardian News and Haymarket Media Groups

July 2011

Trade Interchange has won contracts with two of the biggest companies in the UK publishing industry to supply and support eAuctions and eRFX online tender and quotation requests software.

The Trade Interchange e-procurement products are already delivering significant cost savings to both organisations, most notably in outsourced printing services for consumer titles at Haymarket. In addition they have lead to better webhosting deals, lower broadcast media costs and savings in the production costs of sports and events programmes.

The companies chose Trade Interchange because of the company’s proven, ten- year track record in the eAuctions and eRFX industry and its excellent service as well as the immediate and sustainable ROI that its products deliver.

Guardian News and Media (GNM) is the sole owner and publisher of the Guardian and Observer newspapers, and has a portfolio of other media interests that includes a 42% share in Seven Publishing, which produces the consumer magazine for Sainsbury’s. It also has a 30% share in Development Hell, publishers of music magazines The Word and Mixmag.

Haymarket Media Group is the company behind an array of well-known publications including ‘Autocar’, ‘Mediaweek’, and the official magazine of the UEFA Champions League. Tim Hoiles, Operations Director, Trade Interchange said, “With both the Guardian News and Media Group and the Haymarket Media Group we are demonstrating how we can help the publishing industry make considerable e-procurement savings and strike better deals with suppliers.”

The publishing sector is the UK’s largest creative industry, employing around 167,000 people, and boasting a turnover of at least £20 billion.
